| Deliver Us from the Evil One
Jesus prayed. His disciples asked Him to teach them to pray. They didn't say teach us about prayer, but teach us to pray. In this prayer we see a model of approaching Father. It begins with worship, and then the approach of His kingdom. It tells us that Father wants to hear our needs, and then to pray for deliverance from evil.
In the original language, Jesus actualy said "deliver us from the evil one." Evil has a face. It is not against ethereal evil that we are to pray, but against a being behind it. The word deliver speaks more of snatching us away from the evil one, rather than just quiet an unruly day. If it is important for us to pray this prayer, it is important for us to understand something can be amiss in our lives.
