| Are there hindrances to healing?
F.F. Bosworth understood healing. His book, Christ the Healer, should be read by all interested in healing. He lists twenty-two reasons why we do not see healing. I reproduce them here. Rarely have I seen such a comprehensive list. I have taken the liberty to paraphrase certain words for clarity.
1. Insufficient instruction- ignorance concerning the healing power of the gospel. 2. Ignorance that this ministry was to continue in the church. 3. Community, or church, unbelief. 4. The traditions of men, or religion, squelch it. 5. The breaking of natural laws God has made. 6. Unbelief on the part of the minister or elders. 7. The illness is a result of demonic activity, it takes deliverance. 8. Some regard iniquity in their hearts. 9. A church that is lukewarm, as in Laodicea. 10. Illness is present to lead a person closer to the center of His will. 11. An unforgiving spirit is present. 12. Wrongs unrighted remain in the life. 13. Failure to pursue deeply the things of God. 14. They expect a miracle, rather than a healing over a period. 15. Some watch their symptoms, rather than the Lord. 16. Some are not acting on their faith. 17. Some throw away their confidence when tested. 18. Some are not filled with the Spirit. 19. Some place faith in faith, rather than Faith in God. 20. Some do not believe the Word of God is for them personally. 21. Some must see results before believing. 22. Some cannot believe without seeing instant improvement. |
